Adam Balogh was born in 1997. He started to play piano at age seven and won eight national piano competitions until the age of 13, including the Budapest Festival Orchestra’s competition, which led to his orchestral debut in 2010 with them under the baton of Ivan Fischer. Since, he performed with Berlin Konzerthaus, Concerto Budapest, Pannon Philharmonic, Budapest Danubia, NYCA Philharmonic, and Zuglo Philharmonic orchestras. At the age of 12, he was accepted to the Exceptional Talents’ Class of Franz Liszt Academy Budapest, where he studied for 6 years with Attila Nemethy and Gabor Eckhardt.
He is a prizewinner of numerous international piano competitions, including the Takacs Jenő (Graz), Chopin (Budapest), Pianotalents (Milan), Young Virtuoso (Zagreb), Szeged Contemporary Music (Szeged), Tel Hai Concerto Competition, The Hague (Hague), and NYCA Worldwide Debut (New York) competitions. He is also a special prize winner of the 1st Cliburn Junior Competition, and a semifinalist of the Cooper Competition. Most recently he won the 2nd prize of the Bartók World Competition.
Twice, he received scholarship invitation and participated in Philadephia Young Pianists’ Academy, held in the famous Curtis Institute of Music. He also participated in Piano Texas and the Laus Academy in Dubrovnik. He took lessons and masterclasses with teachers including Dimitry Bashkirov, Zoltán Kocsis, Arie Vardi, Roger Muraro, Yohaved Kaplinsky, Stanislav Loudenitch, Ching-Yun Hu, Emanuel Krasovsky, Jerome Lowenthal, Douglas Humpherys, Dina Yoffe, Margarita Shevchenko, Alon Goldstein, Wojciech Switala, Mauritio Moretti, Tamás Vásáry Sandra Shapiro, Ungár Tamás, Rév Lívia and Alexander Moutouzkine, among others. In recent years, he has performed in Dortmund, Berlin, Amsterdam, Basel, Dubrovnik, Philadelphia, Fort Worth, Lagrasse (France), Heidelberg, Ho Chi Minh City, Rome, and Milan, as well as the most popular venues in Hungary, including the Franz Liszt Academy’s great hall, and the halls of the Palace of Arts, the Budapest Music Center, and the Kodály Centre in Pécs. He often appears in national papers and on the national radio, where he has had interviews and live recitals broadcasted.
He is a recipient of scholarships from MOL, the Friends of the Franz Liszt Academy, the Hungarian Ministry of Human Resources, and the Mayor of the city of Pécs. Additionally, he is a recipient of the prestigious Junior Prize of the Tüke Foundation of Pécs, and the national Junior Prima Award.
In 2018, he completed his Bachelor's degree in the Franz Liszt Academy of Music, where he studied piano with Attila Némethy. Currently, he is pursuing a Master's degree in Hannover with Prof. Arie Vardi. He regularly plays chamber music, and he also enjoys composing in his free time.
