With co-founder Justin Kantor at the helm, Le Poisson Rouge (LPR) has continued to thrive in the increasingly difficult and competitive landscape of live music in New York City. One of the last remaining independent music venues in NYC, LPR is revered for its expansive and diverse programming and has been host to world class artists such as Yo-Yo Ma, Beck, Philip Glass, Iggy Pop, and Lorde.
Justin, a cellist who still plays professionally on occasion, is responsible for curating the classical and new music programming at LPR. Justin has been recognized as a distinguished alumnus by his alma mater, Manhattan School of Music, and is a recipient of ASCAP’s Victor Herbert Award.
Justin’s other entrepreneurial projects include Venuepilot.co, an application designed to economize workflow for music venues, disrupt the ticketing industry, and help operators make informed decisions.
Justin is on the faculty at The New School’s Mannes Conservatory, teaching classes focused on entrepreneurship and career building for musicians. He is a resident of Red Hook, Brooklyn.
