Hyewon Ryou (Age: 34)
Hyewon Ryou began studying piano at the age of eight. At the age of thirteen, Ms. Ryou was admitted to the Yewon Art School in Seoul, where she studied with Professor Tong Il Han and Sun Kyung Lee. She made her debut in Seoul with Romanian National Symphony Orchestra at the Little Angels Art Center. Since then, she has performed as soloist, recitalist, and chamber musician all over the world. In Korea, Ms. Ryou has performed often in solo and chamber recitals in the country’s main concert halls, Friedberg Hall, Griswold Hall, Little Angels Art Center, Kumho Art Hall, Buam Art Hall, Kookmin University, and Suncheon National University, as well as with prestigious orchestras such as Korea philharmonic Symphony Orchestra, Prime Philharmonic Orchestra, and Romanian National Orchestra. She has performed on the Young Artist Concert Series sponsored by the Ewon Cultural Foundation, on the Tong Il Han’s Summer Music Festival in Seoul, Japan, and Thailand, and at the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Washington D.C. She also performed at the Chautauqua Music Festival in NY, USA and Courchevel Music Festival in Courchevel, France. Ms. Ryou has been awarded many prizes, including the prize at Russel C Wonderlic Piano Competition, Baltimore Music Club Competition, Joong-Ang University Piano Competition, Samick-Bernstein Piano Competition, Korea Philharmonic Orchestra Competition, in addition to many other awards. Recently, she has been invited as a guest artist in Yeon-Eum Summer Music Festival and Young Summer Piano festival, Korea. Hyewon Ryou earned a Bachelor’s degree in Piano performance as a student of Bong Ae Shin at Yonsei University, Seoul, Korea and a Master’s degree at the Peabody Conservatory as a student of Yong Hi Moon. Ms.Ryou is currently working towards the completion of Doctoral degree at the Peabody Conservatory.
