Skye Park, 16, is a member of Cincinnati Starling Project, a specialized program for talented pre-college string players at the University of Cincinnati’s College Conservatory of Music, as a student of Kurt Sassmannshaus. Skye has been a concertmaster of Central Kentucky Youth Orchestra’s Symphony Orchestra and Starling Chamber Orchestra. Skye has been studying with David Kim of Philadelphia Orchestra since 2016.

Skye has been featured two times on NPR’s hit show From The Top, hosted by the acclaimed pianist Christopher O’Riley. She first recorded with the show in Beijing, China at Great Wall International Music Academy. Two years later, she performed once again for the show celebrating Starling Chamber Orchestra’s 25th anniversary in Cincinnati, OH. Skye then participated in From the Top’s Arts Leadership and Outreach Program at Rowan County public schools in Moorehead, Kentucky.

Other notable performances and awards include Skye’s solo debut with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra at age 10 under the baton of Robert Trevino. She won the Jack & Lucille Wonnell Young Artist Concerto Competition performing Paganini’s Violin Concerto No. 1 with the Blue Ash Montgomery Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Michael Chertock. She had a successful solo appearance at the Rising Stars Recital by the Laredo Philharmonic. She is a prize winner of the Great Wall International Music Academy’s Violin Concerto Competition, Young Artist of the Louisville Orchestra, and Borchardt Concerto Competition by CKYO. Skye is also a frequent soloist with Starling Chamber Orchestra and is featured on www.violinmasterclass.com. As for television appearances, she performed on PBS/CET’s Showcase with Barbara Kellar.

For summer studies, Skye has enjoyed the programs at Great Wall International Music Academy, International Summer Academy of the Mozarteum University Salzburg, and most frequently Bowdoin International Music Festival. She has received masterclasses by the Parker Quartet, the Ying Quartet, Earl Carlyss (Juilliard String Quartet), Juliette Kang, Ayano Ninomiya, Robert Lipsett, Nathan Cole, and Anne Akiko Meyers.

Skye’s favorite season is winter for she is an avid skier.
